Class of 2024

Seniors Recognized by National Merit

Athens Academy is pleased to announce that eight members of the Class of 2024 have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and the College Board. Congratulations to Westbrook Adams, Matthew Can, Thomas Collins, Ryland Marley, and Wade Slatcher, who have been named Semi-finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Program. As Semi-finalists, these five students represent the top 1-2% of the highest scoring seniors across the country. They will continue in the competition for National Merit scholarships, which will be announced in the spring. 
 
In addition, two seniors have been recognized as National Merit Commended Students, representing the top 3-4% of the highest scorers across the country. Congratulations to Camden Lang and Margalit Mauricio.

The College Board has also honored senior Mark Tribble with the National Hispanic Recognition Award, which is based on his PSAT scores as well as his previous academic performance. Fewer than 1% of Hispanic/Latino students taking the PSAT are even invited to apply for this notable achievement.

Students Inducted into Cum Laude Society

On Friday, April 26, sixteen members of Athens Academy’s Class of 2024 were inducted into the prestigious Cum Laude Society in recognition of their commitment to superior scholastic achievement throughout Upper School. The thirteenth annual Cabaniss Lecture, which preceded the ceremony, was given by Drew Bowman, M.D.,Ph.D., a radiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and a member of Athens Academy’s Class of 1993.
 
As the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, The Cum Laude Society recognizes superior academic achievement and sound character. Congratulations to inductees Westbrook Adams, George Barkley, Matthew Can, Thomas Collins, Anvesha Das, Will DeLoach, Tara Dolan, Andrew Hill, Thomas Hollingsworth, Andrew Jang, Camden Lang, David Liu, Ryland Marley, Margalit Mauricio, Jiya Patel, and Mark Tribble.
